Spinifex looking quite lush

12 June, 2011

With the above average rainfall extending late into the 'dry' season, for me it was different to see the spinifex so green.

This shot was taken in mid-April this year at Mt Herbert, near Tom Price, in the Pilbara.

Last year it was a totally different scene, as the spinifex was all golden-brown, so it was quite a contrast.

There's a nice not-so-little scenic drive, called Snappy Gum Drive, from Milstream going towards Tom Price.  You'll see plenty of this sort of scenery.  Vast blue sky, green spinifex, red dirt.

Incidentally, the Karijini Eco Retreat grounds have recovered well after last year's bushfire.  I know a number of people going this July school holidays.

So if you've not been, go on.  Go to Karijini.
